Quality badges you can trust

At Binksberry Hollow we wanted to make a system for identifying what level of certification or sustainability practices are being followed for products offered on our website. If you see one of these badges posted in the top left-hand corner of the main product image that means that that particular standard is being followed (at a minimum) for that product. Our hope was to make it easy to identify what products would transparently best serve your personal lifestyle standards.

Family Owned and Operated

Binksberry Hollow is a family owned and operated business. Steven and Kristie Binks have been married for 25 years and partners not only in life but in all their businesses as well. The entire family helps run our operations at Binksberry Hollow. But we also view our close friends and neighbors as extended family, this would not be possible without their generations of knowledge and advice.

Farm To Table

Food served at Binksberry Hollow signature tasting events, including on or off-Farm catering or Chef’s Table events, use food that is either raised on this property or sourced locally from one of our farm partners.

USDA Certified Organic

Products with this tag posted on our website means it is certified USDA organic, sourced from a trusted vendor. Many of our locally raised products come from our trusted farm partner, Brendan Monaco’s certified USDA organic gardens.

Trusted Supplier

You will see this tag on many products on the website. Trusted supplier means that this product was sourced from a neighboring farm or other source that has been vetted by Brendan Monaco to ensure their farm or business meets our exacting standards.

Made in NY

If you see this tag that means the product was made in New York. That much is obvious. What you may not know is that we have personally met with  and vetted every supplier represented  on our website, to make sure that they align with our core values.

Pasture Raised

You will primarily see this tag used on our pastured poultry. Our chickens are raised in prairie schooners out on our non-certified organic hayfield. Rotated daily and given free choice of forage and grain. They are literally raised on pasture. Binksberry Hollow is also a member of the APPPA (American Pastured Poultry Producers Association).

Regenerative Farming

We view ourselves as stewards of the land that we farm, raise our family and live on. We want to leave this property better than we found it for generations to come. Because we are a first generation family farm, knowing the right direction to take can be tricky. That’s why we are working closely with the Cornell Cooperative Extension and their land management & conservation team to initiate and follow the best practices for regenerative farming.

Goodman Farms

This is a special tag; one that we made specifically for our close friends and strategic partners at Goodman Farms. Brendan Monaco from Goodman Farms sources many of the products found on our website. Tirelessly vetting businesses to make sure that their core philosophies and values mirror ours. When you see this tag on a product that means it is specifically coming from one of Brendan’s signature gardens.

Woman Owned Business

My wife Kristie sometimes takes a backseat to my larger-than-life personality. But I assure you she is the real boss, not only in this family, but in every business that we have owned in our 30+ years together. She handles everything from customer service to deliveries, logistics, running events and everything in between. This IS a woman-owned business.

Pesticide Free

If you see this tag in a product that means it may not be certified organic but it was raised in a pesticide-free environment. Most likely at one of Brendan Monaco’s Goodman farms greenhouse operations. By raising vegetables with strict protocols and standards for invasive species control, many of his products can be raised without the use of pesticides.

Dry Aged

At Binksberry Hollow, we pride ourselves on our dry aging techniques to extract maximum flavor out of every ounce of beef we produce. Products tagged with this badge have been dry-aged for a minimum of 20 days, and in some special cases up to 50 days, in our dedicated humidity and temperature-controlled dry-aging cooler.

NON GMO

Products with this tag contain no ingredients that have been genetically modified.

Gluten Free

Whenever you see this badge that means no gluten-based ingredients were used to create this product.

Single Source Dairy

Most dairy products that we source, including cheese and milk products, are derived from a single source. That means all of the dairy used to make a specific product came from the same farm. This practice is followed to ensure consistency and quality.

New York State Grown & Certified

This badge signifies that these products are grown here in NY. It makes it easy for consumers to identify local, safely-handled, and environmentally responsible agricultural products. This  program is voluntary and a cooperative effort among producers, processors, wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets to meet consumer demand for high-quality food and agricultural products.

Global GAP

This badge signifies a internationally accepted standard for multiple items. It’s focus is on food safety, food security, worker health and welfare, safe working and living conditions, produce packing and handling and so much more.

NOFA NY Certified Organic

This Organic accrediting body is based here in NY state. They make sure through inspections and documentation that anyone bearing this logo has meet all organic standards. It also allows them to use the USDA organic logo if the producer passes and maintains there certification.

FDA FSMA Food Safety Certified

This is the new standard universally accepted here in the USA. Anyone brining in or producing many different products such as produce has to follow these guidelines and be inspected and found compliant.
